After scheduling an appointment the first session is an intake session lasting 53 to 60 minutes. After that, sessions are 53 minutes. We try our best to make sure all questions are addressed during the time of the session.

No! Therapy is your personal journey. At any time you can opt in or out of therapy. Therapy is your time to explore your thoughts and feelings. While we recommend that you remain in therapy if a provider feels it is the best course of treatment, you are free to no longer schedule sessions. We ask that pre-scheduled sessions you do not plan to attend are canceled before noon the previous business to your scheduled appointment time. All missed appointments will incur a no show fee.

The first therapy session is an opportunity for you and your provider to begin building a trusting and collaborative relationship. During this initial meeting, your therapist will spend time getting to know you, your background, and the reasons that brought you into therapy. You’ll discuss any challenges or concerns you’re currently facing, as well as your personal goals and expectations for treatment. Your provider may ask questions about your thoughts, feelings, relationships, medical history, and previous therapy experiences to develop a deeper understanding of your unique situation. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, express any worries, and determine if your therapist feels like the right fit for you. By the end of the first session, you and your provider will typically outline initial steps or plans for ongoing therapy, ensuring a personalized path toward emotional wellness and growth.

Absolutely! Unless a client poses a danger to themselves or others, our provider suspects child or elder abuse, or our provider is legally mandated by a court order to pass along records, 100% of everything you say in the session will be confidential in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
