About Us
We're committed to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare through evidence-based psychiatric care.
Mission Statement
Vision Statement
To be the premier provider in the Carolinas for evidence-based mental health treatment, offering compassionate care that exceeds quality standards for individuals throughout all life stages.
Core Values
To Innovate patient care: Innovation by embracing new treatments, technologies, and approaches to improve mental health outcomes and patient experiences.
Compassionate Patient-Centered Care: A focus on providing care that is respectful of, and responsive to, individual patient preferences, needs, and values. Decisions should be made in consultation with patients (and, when appropriate, their families), ensuring that their own values and perspectives are a central part of the treatment process.
Confidentiality: The value of confidentiality is critical in psychiatry because of the deeply personal and sensitive nature of the information shared. Patients must be able to trust that their information will be kept confidential in order to build a therapeutic relationship with their psychiatrist.
Integrity and Honesty: These values are key in any medical discipline but are particularly critical in psychiatry, where the therapeutic relationship is built on mutual trust and respect. Psychiatrists must offer honest assessments and maintain ethical boundaries in all professional interactions.
Respect for Autonomy: Respecting the autonomy of patients is a cornerstone of Evidence Based Practice.
In psychiatry, this means recognizing the patient's right to make their own choices, including the right to refuse treatment, unless they are a danger to themselves or others.
Social Justice: Like many the field, we believe that psychiatrists have an ethical responsibility to advocate for equitable access to mental healthcare for all individuals, irrespective of factors like socio-economic status, race, or ethnicity.

OUR COMMITMENT
PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION
PFBH is committed to finding psychopharmacological solutions to psychiatric problems. Our patients are partners in their care in determining the best treatment plan for their individual needs. We work tirelessly to help patients make informed decisions regarding their mental health.
PFBH works with GeneSight to administer genetic tests at the practice or sent directly to the patient's home. These pharmacogenetic tests can indicate which medications will and won’t work for a patient based on their genetic profile. They help eliminate some of the trial and error inherent to psychiatric medicine.
